Why I love Fuengirola

There are three reasons I love this town…

1 | Small town vibe, cosmopolitan heart

What do I mean by this? Well, firstly, Fuengirola has a large local population of around 55K people. Secondly, it’s home to around 30K foreign residents from more than 130 countries. Finally, the populace almost doubles during the tourist season. But despite the vast number of diverse people, Fuengirola has a small town feel. Live here long enough, and you’ll find it impossible to walk through town without bumping into someone you know. You can’t slip under the radar here—and that’s part of the charm.

2 | Stunning natural beauty

Secondly, for me, the combination of the mountains and the sea makes me feel like I can breathe. The salty air, the golden sunlight, and the levante winds from the Mediterranean and the poniente winds from the Atlantic create a potent combination that makes you feel alive. It’s a place where every sunrise and sunset invites you to savour the moment.

3 | Perfect for families

Thirdly, Fuengirola is a great place to bring up a family. The town offers decent schools, good weather, well-maintained parks, 8 km of beach, tons of recreation and a community-minded spirit. Everywhere is family-friendly—no restaurant will refuse you entry because you have children with you. What’s more, the cultural diversity here enriches children’s lives, giving them a global perspective right from the playground. In short, Fuengirola provides a friendly setting where families can thrive.
